All surface to be coated should be clean, dry and free from contamination. Prior to paint application, all surface should be assessed and treated in accordance with ISO 8504:2000.
Local repair can only be carried out by using local sand blasting to remove the rust to Sa2½ or power tool to remove the rust to ST3, in case of mechanical damage and localized corrosion on the surface of the paint film.
The powdered layer, zinc salt, grease and other pollutants should be removed from the surface with appropriate methods if applying on other old coatings.
Select approved joint paint or transition coating when applied to inorganic zinc silicate primer or sprayed metal surface.
Attention should be paid to ventilation and stay away from the fire during paint application, wear mask, gloves and other protective equipment. Keep ventilation during the paint curing process.
Mix the paint evenly when preparing the paint. Then add the curing agent according to the proportion, mix evenly. Add the comfortable thinner according to the application requirement and temperature shift. Mix and age the paint sufficiently.
When applied on the inorganic zinc silicate coating, the transition paint should be used for sealing, and the product can only be recoated after the transition paint is hard dry, otherwise the effectiveness of sealing pinholes will be reduced.
Over thinning will lead to the decrease of sagging resistance and slow down of curing.
Excessive thickness will seriously affect the drying and curing performance, Recoating performance and handling time of coatings. When the film thickness is more than 200 microns, multi-layer coating should be used to improve the coating density in order to achieve better coating performance. It should be avoided that the corners, welds and other parts of the structure are coated too thick in one single application. The recoating time of the subsequent coating should be extended to ensure that the solvent in the coating volatilizes, otherwise the coating may crack during use if these parts are coated too thick.
If the coating of the product is powdered after long-term exposure, it should be cleaned with high-pressure water or polished before applying subsequent coating.
High film thickness and good continuous film can not be obtained at one time when brushing or rolling. So multi-layer coating is needed.
During application and curing, the substrate temperature must be higher than 5℃ and at least 3℃ higher than the dew point, and the relative humidity shall not above 85%.
Dust will be produced when cutting the structure coated with the coating. So proper protection should be used.
When the applying is suspended, do not keep the paint in the spray gun or spraying equipment. Thoroughly cleaning all equipment with thinner. If the spray pause time is too long, I t is suggested that a new set of paint be remixed for the application.
Cleaning all the equipments with thinner right after using. It is good to clean the spray equipment regularly. The cleaning frequency depends on the temperature, amount of paint, spraying time, including time of interruption.
The remaining paint barrels should be dealt with in accordance with regional regulation.
